NY #2

So about 3 weeks after I got home from NYC, Andrew and I took a road trip back out to western NY.  My dad's wife, Kelly, has family out in the finger lakes region, specifically Seneca Lake.  If you remember, 2 years ago we took a similar trip to view some land that we own where we want to start a camp.  Read more about that here.

This time, though we drove out and spent a week touring the area.  Since I was pregnant during this summer, we took 2 days to make the drive while stopping about every 2 hours.  It was a lot of time in the car, but a beautiful drive none the less.  We spent our time in Himrod, NY which is on the western side of Seneca Lake.  Kelly's parents own a cottage on the lake, yes you heard right, ON THE LAKE!!!  It's absolutely adorable and we had a great time.

We did get to see Grammy and the farm in Clifton Springs, but we spent most of the week touring the nearby towns and other lakes.  We took trips and saw Geneva, Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Cayuga Lake, Penn Yan, Keuka Lake, Canandagua Lake and many other small towns.
Buttermilk Falls dried up.
Cornell.....Big Red Love to Linds & Bethie!

Taughannock Falls, also a pretty dry.

One of the coolest things we did was see Watkins Glen State Park.  There was a picture on Pinterest (see here).  I was like, no way is that anywhere near us, I HAVE to go there, but in fact it was right by us.  Watkins Glen State Park is an incredible hike up gorges with absolutely phenomenal views.  It's seriously one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.  My pictures don't give it justice, but here are a couple of my faves.
 Heart pool.

 So many waterfalls.

 Seriously, simply beautiful views.
So while it sounds like we did a lot of driving, most places were no more than 45-60 minutes away.  We also did a lot of hanging out at the cottage, spending time outside and on the lake.  It was a very relaxing trip.

We hope make this trip next year and make it an annual trip.  It's simply stunning and so relaxing.  We just love it out there!
